An email this afternoon from the Lippe Taylor PR firm:
I wanted to see if you have some time to tweet or facebook about Schick Quattro for Women’s campaign with Feeding America …. They have partnered with the #1 hunger-relief charity for the month of November in honor of Thanksgiving! Feeding America offers fresh food to Americans in need, safe places for children, emergency assistance for disaster victims and is constantly working to eliminate poverty in our country! More information available at www.facebook.com/schickquattroforwomen
By visiting, liking and downloading at Schick Quattro for Women’s Facebook page, consumers receive a $2.00 – off coupon for any of their razors or refills, while the brand donates 50 cents per download. Schick Quattro for Women will donate up to $25,000 to the charity and is eager to have consumers share this deal with their friends via their Facebook’s.
Now, I’m all for feeding America. I regularly give cash and edibles to food banks. That’s because those kinds of donations are completely uncontroversial. But, as a journalist, I’m not going to endorse a razor just because a company is helping feed the hungry.
It gets better. They’ve written sample tweets and Facebook posts for me. Because there is nothing — and I mean nothing — that someone who runs a blog about how journals use embargoes to control the flow of scientific information wants to do more than parrot PR.
Below are some sample tweets / Facebook posts we have created, I’d truly appreciate if you were able to fit this in either from yourself or TheLuxurySpot.com as we are trying to give it a big end of the month push!
“Make sure to download your $2 #coupon from Schick Quattro for Women! For every coupon downloaded, they donate to @FeedingAmerica! http://on.fb.me/v87fMs”
“Hey QFW fans – give and get this season by downloading the brands $2 “Giving Thanks Coupon”! For every coupon downloaded, Schick will make a donation to Feeding America. Check it out here: http://on.fb.me/v87fMs.”
Am I missing something because I’m not that sharp?
